APRIL SFMP Action Plan 2015<\/p><\/div>\n

APRIL released an Action Plan<\/a>\u00a0for sustainable forest management March 2015.<\/p>\n

The Action Plan was developed following the Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC)<\/a>\u00a0December 2014 meeting and based on their\u00a0recommendations relating to the KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. (KPMG) specified auditing procedures on\u00a0APRIL\u2019s Sustainable Forest Management Policy (SFMP)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In January 2014, APRIL announced their Sustainable Forest Management Policy (SFMP) which\u00a0pledges to commit to conservation, restoration and protection of\u00a0forests considered to have High Conservation Value (HCV).<\/p>\n

A Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC)<\/a>\u00a0was also set up to monitor the implementation of APRIL\u2019s policy and provide recommendations on\u00a0improvements. The SAC has appointed KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. (KPMG PRI) to\u00a0audit\u00a0the\u00a0implementation of APRIL\u2019s SFMP.<\/p>\n

APRIL Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC)<\/p><\/div>\n

The SAC comprises five forest and social experts led by Joseph Lawson, a who has 34 years of experience in the forestry industry. The Committee also includes Al Azhar, a community leader in Riau and chief executive of the Malay Custom Institution of Riau; James Griffiths of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD); Jeff Sayer, development practice professor at Australia\u2019s James Cook University; and Budi Wardhana, World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) policy, sustainability and transformation director.<\/p>\n

APRIL has\u00a0spent considerable time to ensure activities outlined in the Action Plan align with the SAC\u2019s recommendations.<\/p>\n

KPMG will conduct a follow-up assessment of the Action Plan\u2019s implementation in May 2015 at the next SAC meeting.<\/p>\n
