Held in Singapore, the forum marked the release of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eco-business.com\/research\/global-sustainability-pulse-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eco-Business\u2019 Global Sustainability Pulse Survey<\/a>\u00a0and profiled the sustainability journey of a range of companies as a canvas for discussion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Represented by Agung Laksamana, Director\u00a0of\u00a0Corporate Affairs, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aprilasia.com\/en\/sukanto-tanoto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">APRIL<\/a> was invited to share a wide-lens perspective of the company\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aprildialog.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sustainability journey<\/a>, touching on challenges and opportunities encountered by the forestry sector\u00a0overall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/agung1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7045\" src=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/agung1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"APRIL Shares Sustainability Journey at Eco-Business Forum\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Citing examples from APRIL\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inside-rge.com\/sustainable-operations\/april-group-sfmp-2-0\/attachment\/inside-rge-april-group-executives-sfmp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainable Forest Management Policy<\/a> implementation, Laksamana noted that there had been\u00a0a\u00a0significant change in the understanding and maturity of approaches to sustainable development since the start of the decade. This could be measured by an increasing number of commitments to eliminate deforestation and a rise in stakeholder engagement, where there is now much greater collaboration between private sector companies, civil society groups and\u00a0the government\u00a0at the landscape level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">APRIL\u2019s Stakeholder Advisory Committee and Independent Peatland Expert Working Group were referenced as examples of increased <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aprildialog.com\/en\/category\/stakeholder-engagement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">collaboration<\/a> and transparency, as well as a science-led approach to complex issues such as ecosystem restoration and responsible peatland management. APRIL\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inside-rge.com\/fire-free-village-programme-marks-2nd-year-milestone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fire Free Village Programme<\/a> and\u00a0its expansion through\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/firefreealliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fire Free Alliance<\/a> provided further evidence of\u00a0this\u00a0industry-wide collaboration to tackling vital\u00a0issues.\u00a0However, Laksamana\u00a0noted that there remained work to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/agung3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7046\" src=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/agung3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"APRIL Shares Sustainability Journey at Eco-Business Forum\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cJourney is the right phrase to use,\u201d he said. \u2018We are making progress towards our goal of achieving a long-term business growth that benefits the local economy and the community while at the same time generating a neutral net-positive impact on the environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThrough forest conservation and restoration, science-led peatland management and community level fire prevention, and development programmes, we are demonstrating not only a commitment to sustainable forestry, but to the advancement of Indonesia&#8217;s Sustainable Development Goals as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APRIL Group recently participated in a panel discussion\u00a0on\u00a0how businesses\u00a0can contribute to the achievement of the United Nation\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals.
