{"id":6917,"date":"2017-02-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/uncategorized\/world-economic-forum-2017-highlights-from-davos\/"},"modified":"2024-06-05T12:06:14","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T04:06:14","slug":"world-economic-forum-2017-highlights-from-davos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/zh-hans\/rge-updates-and-latest-news-from-the-group\/world-economic-forum-2017-highlights-from-davos\/","title":{"rendered":"World Economic Forum 2017: Highlights from Davos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each year in January, the normally sedate Davos, population 11,000, sees an influx of visitors when the World Economic Forum (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WEF<\/a>) holds its flagship Annual Meeting in the alpine resort town located in the canton of Graub\u00fcnden, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inside-rge.com\/updates\/sukanto-tanoto-rge-delegation-shares-thoughts-wef-east-asia-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rgei.com\/about\/our-leadership\/sukanto-tanoto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RGE<\/a> has participated in the thought leadership forum to understand the cross currents of emerging trends and how the private sector can work in partnership with both government and non-government actors to be a force for good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attending the Davos summit this year was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rgei.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RGE<\/a> Director Mr Anderson Tanoto and RGE President &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sateri.com\/sukanto-tanoto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sateri<\/a> CEO Mr Tey Wei Lin.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"World Economic Forum 2017: Highlights from Davos\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o2WQQBh2Nag?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reflecting on the theme of Davos 2017, Mr Tanoto said, \u201cResponsive and responsible leadership is very interesting because Professor Klaus Schwab from the World Economic Forum shared that the kind of leadership required for 2017 is leadership with a radar and a compass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Elaborating on what the theme means to him as a corporate leader, Mr Tanoto continued, \u201cHaving a moral compass [means] having a compass of knowing what is the true north and still doing the right things while the world continues to evolve; not starting the move towards short-term thinking, decision-making process, getting caught in political cycles; and continuing to focus on what needs to be done while also considering the dynamic environment we\u2019re working in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6760\" src=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WEF_2017_Anderson_Pic_1.jpg\" alt=\"World Economic Forum 2017: Highlights from Davos\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The importance of looking long-term was also underscored by Mr Tey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WeLin_at_WEF2017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6758\" src=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WeLin_at_WEF2017-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"World Economic Forum 2017: Highlights from Davos\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe invest for the long term. We don\u2019t invest for the next three, five years. We invest for the next ten, 20 years or even longer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSo, there could be short-term ups and downs, gyrations, noise surrounding how the world economy will behave in 2017 or even 2018, but that doesn\u2019t quite affect what we do. We plan for the long-term and we will execute on them and we stay the course,\u201d affirmed Mr Tey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continuing a tradition, the Indonesian government and business community hosted the Davos delegates to Indonesia Night, where amidst traditional Indonesian cuisine and cultural performances, the community gave attendees high-level insights into the business outlook of the world\u2019s 10<sup>th<\/sup> largest economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gracing Indonesia Night were\u00a0several Indonesian leaders\u00a0including\u00a0Mr Airlangga Hartarto, Minister for Industry; Mr Enggartiasto Lukita, Minister for Trade; Mr Thomas Lembong, Chairman, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM); and Mr Nazir Foead, Head of Indonesia&#8217;s Peatland Restoration Agency (BRG). RGE was a sponsor of the well-attended event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/WEF_Indonesia_Night_Group_Shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6757\" was\u00a0\u00a0a forum on\u00a0&#8220;Fertile Ground for Sustainable Growth,&#8221; introduced by Mr Marco Albani, Head, Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 and moderated by Ms Frances Seymour, Senior Fellow, Center for Global Development, USA.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rgei-2.hellopomelo.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMG-20170120-WA0040.jpg\"><img
