However, the COVID-19 global pandemic and new variants did not dampen RGE companies\u2019 resolve to continue creating value for community, country, climate, customer and the company \u2013 our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rgei.com\/about\/governance-leadership\/sukanto-tanoto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Founder and Chairman<\/a> Sukanto Tanoto\u2019s 5C\u2019s business philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>RGE\u2019s 60,000-strong staff enthusiastically adapted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inside-rge.com\/corporate\/rge-founders-day-2020-giving-back-in-the-new-normal\/\">last year&#8217;s Founder&#8217;s Day<\/a> strategic approach with a hybrid of hands-on volunteerism (while observing safe distancing measures) and raising funds for community organizations fighting the pandemic on the front lines.<\/p>\n<p>The RGE Founder\u2019s Day 2021 \u2018call to action\u2019 was kicked off with a launch video distributed globally featuring RGE Managing Director Anderson Tanoto and words of inspiration by RGE Chairman Sukanto Tanoto.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RGE Founder&#039;s Day 2021 English version\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mHAUdUNmQEg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>(The web version of the above YouTube video <a href=\"https:\/\/foundersday.rgei.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is available here<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Each RGE business group rose to the challenge to identify a local community organisation dedicated to pandemic relief or community development, and rallied its staff to raise funds for the organisation. These two countries are particularly hard hit by the pandemic and need our help the most. Therefore, 80% of the final amount raised was donated to the local community organization selected by each business group, and 20% to the Global RGE Fund which provided food and basic needs support for vulnerable families in Indonesia and Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>As per our tradition, RGE Founder\u2019s Day is also dedicated to providing all global staff a refresher on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inside-rge.com\/corporate\/rge-founder-chairman-sukanto-tanoto-marks-50-years-business-launching-core-values\/\">RGE\u2019s Core Values<\/a> \u2013 which has been key to our success for over 50 years. This year, our Core Values workshops focused on behavioural statements \u2013 the specific actions we should take to interact with each other in our workplace. Once again, more than 1,000 Core Values workshops took place around the world.
