Photography is a unique sport, given its ability to transcend language barriers. In our final feature on 2016’s photo contest winners, we’re taking an international approach, with all three profiles and photos coming from different countries.
October Photo-of-the-month: Kesuma Wijaya
Kesuma has been a part of the Asian Agri family for the past six years. Working in the Purchasing department, he functions as an integral part of Asian Agri’s production chain. Every day, he busies himself with finding the highest quality materials available, negotiating the best prices, and ensuring production runs smoothly. This commitment to doing his role right, is a mindset deeply integrated within the RGE family, and is something that inspires his work everyday.
This same commitment was captured In Kesuma’s winning entry in 2016’s photo contest. His entry, the photo of the month for October, depicts a mill operator inspecting each ream paper before they are packaged. Kesuma’s photo captures the attention to detail that RGE and all its business groups are now known for, from start to finish.
November Photo-of-the-month: Wang Teng Fei
As part of Sateri Jiangxi’s Corporate Communications and Sustainability team, Teng Fei’s main role is to ensure that Sateri’s corporate values are effectively communicated to all its stakeholders. Given that he already had his heart set on a career in communications even as a student, his work atSateri is something he relishes.
Teng Fei’s photo entry was taken around the Lunar New Year, when Sateri spends some time with the less-fortunate children and elderly in the area, bringing gifts and some oft-needed festive joy. The boy in the photo, Teng Fei recalled, had been curious about the workings of the camera. In the midst of teaching his new inquisitive friend, Teng Fei managed to capture that moment on camera.
The opportunity to act as a link between the company and the community is something that inspires Teng Fei everyday. More importantly, it allows him to build a stronger relationship between both parties. Little wonder why Teng Fei waxes lyrical about his time at Sateri, and calls it his ‘favourite job’.
December Photo-of-the-month: Gleison Rezende
The final photo in our series comes from Brazil, and is taken by Gleison Rezende. He is responsible for maintaining Bracell’s internal and external communication channels; Gleison spends his time developing concepts to help increase awareness of the company’s initiatives. There is no ‘routine day’ for Gleison; some days he would be down at the mill, on others he would be deep within the forests.
Gleison’s photo was taken at a music class near the forestry office, a CSR intiative started by the company. Through this students pick up a new skill, and can earn some extra income for themselves by performing at events. Naturally, Gleison is proud to be part of such a beneficial initiative.
Being able to work together with the community in such a complementary fashion is something that fuels Gleison’s drive. He truly believes in the better angels of our nature; if we all work together, we really can achieve more. RGE would surely agree.
